About Toto
Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro, David Paich (who at the time were also well-known studio musicians with Boz Scaggs) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. Their name is derived from the Latin word that means "all encompassing," the group was determined to explore all styles of music.
The third album from Toto, Turn Back, was a failure in 1981. However, they bounced back with their fourth album, Isolation, which contained two hit songs, including the title song and Roseanna. The album and tour helped them become a household name across the globe.
After a short hiatus, Toto returns with the album Fahrenheit. It's a change from the ballads of previous albums and also includes some heavy rock. The album was their first to be certified platinum in North America.

They decide to record a brand new album and change their name with an entirely different producer. Lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen is let go and replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman, and gives the band much-needed boost.
In 1999, the band release Mindfields and begins an extensive tour across the globe. After several weeks in Europe, the band heads to Japan for sold-out shows. After a brief break, Toto resumes recording and continues to record their first live album, Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes the cover of Weezer's track Hash Pipe in response to the band's cover of their hit Africa on their recent tour. Toto's touring band includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest along with keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.
